Hima in 400m final at U-20 Worlds

TAMPERE(FINLAND): Indian sprinter Hima Das stormed into the women’s 400m final as the fastest runner in the semi-finals heats on Day 2 of the World Under-20 Championsh­ips on Wednesday. The 18-year-old clocked 52.10 sec to win the semi-finals heat No 1 and led the overall time charts. She had also led the time charts in the first round heats on Tuesday with a timing of 52.25.

TAUNTON: India A once again struggled in the first innings, folding up for 192 in response to West Indies A’s 302 on Day 2 of the second unofficial Test. West Indies A could only add a run to their overnight score, ending at 302 in 90.5 overs Shamarh Brooks scoring an unbeaten 122.

Indian batsmen had a hard time facing the red ball . Raymon Reifer (5/50) and Oshane Thomas (3/66) wrecked the Indian innings that lasted 48 overs. In the absence of openers Prithvi Shaw and Mayank Agarwal, Ravikumar Samarth (10) and Abhimanyu Easwaran (23) did not make the most of the opportunit­y.

SPECIAL BHARAT TEAM

NEW DELHI: A Special Olympics Bharat women’s football team, which has six players with intellectu­al disability and five mainstream athletes, will represent India at the Special Olympics Unified Cup to be held in Chicago from July 17-20. The five-day tournament is being organised to mark the 50th Anniversar­y of Special Olympics.

The tournament will feature 24 teams (16 male and 8 female) including India, Brazil, Canada,united States and Uruguay.
