Man booked for creating fake FB profile, uploading lewd photos
GURGAON: A man was booked for allegedly creating a Facebook profile in the name of a woman who is a resident of Sector 46, and uploading lewd pictures on the account. The woman found the profile in her name while surfing the social media site. She reported the matter to the police and a case was registered at the Sector 50 police station.
In her complaint, the woman told police that the accused had created a fake email id and through it, a fake Facebook profile on which lewd photographs were uploaded. The accused also shared the pictures on Facebook through this profile causing the complainant “mental anguish”.
“A complaint was received on Friday after which a case was registered against an unidentified accused under sections 66 and 67 of the IT Act. This matter is being investigated and the culprit will be nabbed soon,” Sector 50 station house officer Deepak Kumar said.
In another incident, an unidentified person was booked for repeatedly sending pornographic messages to a woman, who hails from Farrukhnagar and is presently staying with her family in Gurgaon.
The victim told police that the accused was sending lewd and pornographic messages repeatedly on her phone, which distressed her. She added that the accused has been changing his number to send messages to her, and has continued the harassment despite being told not to do so. The victim works as an executive in a private company.
After the victim lodged a complaint on Friday evening in this regard, a case was registered at the Shivaji Nagar police station under Section 354D (i) of the Indian Penal Code. The police said that the matter is being investigated and details of the phone number and its ownership would be obtained from the service provider. A police official said that the accused would be identified and nabbed soon.
