After getting information, police reached the spot and started rescuing the victims. The injured were rushed to various hospitals in Rewari and Rohtak.

Rewari police spokesperson Din Dayal said a pick-up truck carrying fruits that overturned after colliding with a vehicle was hit from behind by a private bus going towards Delhi. At least four more vehicles piled up.

“There was very less visibility due to fog. We are investigating the matter and will register a case,” he added.

“A traffic jam was caused due to the pile-up. The police and administration got the damaged vehicles removed from the accident site to clear up the traffic jam,” another official said.

Several road accidents are reported across the northern region of the country due to dense fog. Disruption in road, rail and air traffic caused by winter fog has become routine in northern India.
