Three men open fire in Gurugram sweet shop
GURUGRAM: Panic gripped patrons of Om Sweets, a restaurant in Sector 46, as three men barged into the shop on Tuesday evening and opened fire, in what seems to be a possible extortion attempt, said the police.
According to the police, at least 8 to 10 shots were fired by the men who approached the shop manager and gave him a slip with a 12-digit number to hand it over to the owner, before opening fire. At least a dozen customers were inside the shop at the time of the shooting. The incident took place at 7.13 pm.
In the CCTV footage, a man in a white shirt and black trousers can be seen entering the shop, closely followed by two aides. While one is dressed in a blue denim shirt and trousers with a cap, the other can be seen wearing a black ‘kurta-pyjama’ and hiding his face with a stole and a cap. The men did a survey of the shop and stopped for a brief discussion among themselves, before approaching the cashier, turning around and shooting multiple rounds in the air, as they left the shop.
Satish Kumar, the investigating official, said the police had recovered several cartridges from outside the shop. The number given by the men appeared to be a mobile number, although no one responded when the police tried to call on it.
Commissioner of police, K K Rao, announced a ₹5 lakh reward for information leading to their arrest, adding that identity of the informer would be kept secret.
