OFFICIALS BELIEVE HEAD CONSTABLE RAJPAL YADAV HAD FORMED A GANG, WHICH HAD MEMBERS FROM UP, OTHER MEMBERS OF SUSPECTED GANG WERE HELD IN HARDOI, UP
GURUGRAM: A Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officer was arrested on Monday on suspicion of peddling marijuana. Head constable Rajpal Yadav, 45, was arrested from Bilaspur, near Manesar, along with a woman who is suspected to be part of a gang headed by Yadav.
A mini truck loaded with 280 kg of marijuana was recovered at their location.
The two were arrested during a joint raid by Gurugram Police and Uttar Pradesh (UP) Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT). “Accused Rajpal Yadav is reported to be a head constable posted at the CBI office in Delhi. Further investigation will help connect the dots in the case,” said Sandeep Khirwar, Commissioner of Police, Gurugram. The woman Ruchi is from Mainpuri in UP.
Ruchi has been sent to judicial custody and Yadav is in police remand. Khirwar said the UP SWAT team received a tipoff that said Yadav and Ruchi had a hideout in Binola industrial area. The SWAT team then informed Gurugram Police and a joint raid was carried out. Yadav and Ruchi was seen loading 10 sacks of marijuana on to a mini-truck.
Investigators suspect Yadav may have been involved in smuggling cannabis for the last four years. Officials believe Yadav had formed a gang, which included members from UP and Ruchi. Other members of this suspected gang were arrested in Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh, as per sources. A senior CBI official said there are also complaints of indiscipline against Yadav.
