Hisar cops direct Bihar bizman to join probe today
HISAR : The Hisar police have sent notices to the Bihar-based businessman who was carrying ₹3.5 crore in scrapped currency from here to Nagaland besides an official of the private airlines used by him and the Hisar flying club owner to join investigations on Tuesday.
The ‘cash jet’ controversy came to light on November 22, when Bihar-based businessman Amarjeet Singh was held with the currency at Dimapur. The cash was later claimed by the son-in-law of former Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio Anato Zhimomi.
Deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Bhagwan Dass said the investigations into the case started after getting a formal complaint from Shailender Hooda, in-charge of the Hisar flying club. “We have recorded statements of Hooda besides a driver appointed by Shaurya Aeronautics, the firm that owns the club, and some other officials of the club," he said.
"After recording the statement, we issued notices to KC Dutta, an official of the private limited airlines company and also who booked the flight from Hisar to Dimapur, besides Amarjeet Singh and Shaurya Aeronautics owner Sandeep Saraf . I have asked them to appear before the Hisar police on Tuesday (December 6)," said the DSP.
Dass said prima facie it has been found the money came from Delhi or Gurgaon, and further investigation is going on to know the source. "We are hopeful that everyone will join the police investigation. If they fail to do so, further action will be taken," he said.
The DSP said Hooda, in his statement, has said that the flying club staff has no authority to check bags of passengers. He said police is verifying relevant norms. The police have also procured the record of the flying club and beefed up its security.
