I’VE BEEN USING THE VIATERRA FUEL Retro Classic Leather gloves for a few weeks now. Crafted from premium goat leather, these gloves boast a retro design with vibrant yellow accents on the palm area, adding a touch of nostalgia. However, as with any leather product, wear and tear is inevitable, and I’ve noticed some slight blackening over time in the palm area but that is to be expected from this kind of material.
One of the key selling points of these gloves is their purported perforation for ventilation. Unfortunately, in my daily use, I’ve found that this feature falls short, particularly during the sweltering summer months. Despite the perforation, there seems to be a lack of adequate airflow, resulting in sweaty palms after rides. This has been somewhat disappointing, as ventilation is crucial for comfort during long journeys. Nevertheless, one feature that has truly impressed me is the touchscreen compatibility of the gloves. The ability to interact with my smartphone without having to remove them is incredibly convenient and adds a layer of practicality. It’s a small detail but one that I’ve come to appreciate during my rides, especially when navigating unfamiliar routes or responding to urgent messages. In terms of performance, the gloves offer a commendable grip on the handlebars. However, when it comes to protection, there are a few shortcomings that are difficult to overlook. While the knuckle guards offer sufficient coverage, I can’t help but feel that the lack of a palm guard is a glaring omission. In a product such as this, comprehensive protection should be a top priority and the absence of a palm guard is a notable oversight.
Overall, while the ViaTerra Fuel Retro Classic Leather gloves offer style and some practical features, they fall short in terms of ventilation and comprehensive protection, leaving room for improvement in future iterations. ⌧
