14-day quarantine, e-pass from State govt must for air travel

CHENNAI: After allowing domestic flights to operate from Monday, the State government has come up with a set of guidelines for returnees and these include obtaining an e-pass and undergoing mandatory 14-day quarantine upon arrival.

Following the Centre’s decision to allow domestic flights from May 25, top TN officials held a special meeting on Sunday with AAI officials and came up with the guidelines in addition to those laid down by the Ministry of Civil Aviation. The government has made it mandatory for all passengers flying into TN to register their details on https:// tnepass.tnega.org. After obtaining flight tickets, travellers have to register their details on the portal selecting the arrival airport.

While travel permit will be issued with a QR Code in the registered mobile number/ email, airline staff shall insist on details of the entry pass obtained from the TN e-pass portal before issuing the boarding pass. Besides, travellers can use own vehicle or rented ones for travel from airport to their home and the vehicle number must be indicated in the Portal. Passengers without e-pass will not be permitted to move out of the airport, the release stated. Collectors shall make available necessary infrastruc­ture at the exit gates on this. After undergoing medical screening, asymptomat­ic persons shall undergo home quarantine for 14 days from date of arrival.

Pick up vehicles for arriving passengers will be permitted to enter airport with one person (excluding driver of the vehicle) at a designated place subject to social distancing. If the person who pick up the passenger comes in physical contact with the traveller, they shall also undergo home quarantine for 14 days.

Passengers travelling to other states can board the flight only after completing medical check up. Those who show even slight symptoms will not be allowed to board. Wearing a mask and following social distancing is mandatory.
