Man sentenced to 20-year RI for raping minor girl

● IN OCTOBER 2015, the Balapur Police had received a complaint from the girl, wherein she stated that on October 18, 2015 while her parents were away, accused Mahammad Rasid alias Rasheed, 28, along with Akbar Khan, 30, approached her.

● BASED ON a complaint, a case was registered and Rasheed and Akbar Khan were placed under arrest, the police further said.

The local court in LB Nagar convicted a man to undergo 20 years of Rigorous Imprisonment for raping a minor girl and awarded a compensation of `5 lakh to the victim.

The man, aged 28 during the time of the assault in 2015, was arrested by the Balapur police for raping a 13-year-old girl.

In October 2015, the Balapur Police had received a complaint from the girl, wherein she stated that on October 18, 2015 while her parents were away, accused Mahammad Rasid alias Rasheed, 28, along with Akbar Khan, 30, approached her.

“The girl’s parents had gone out when the assailants tried to lure her with money and handed her `100. Upon refusing, they forced and raped her by taking turns. They also threatened her with dire consequences before fleeing the scene,” said the police.

Based on a complaint, a case was registered and Rasheed and Akbar Khan were placed under arrest, the police further said.

“While the case was in trial, Akbar Khan died and the case was abated against him. During the trial, on Tuesday, the LB Nagar court convicted Rasheed to undergo 20 years of Rigorous Imprisonment and slapped a fine of `2,000. The court further awarded a compensation of `5 lakh to the victim under the compensation scheme,” added the police.
