‘Flavours of Türkiye’ to lure city’s epicureans
A 12-day Turkish food festival was inaugurated at Hyatt Place in Banjara Hills on Wednesday that encapsulated the hedonistic spirit of Turkey.
Speaking on the occasion, Turkish celebrity chef Eyup Kemal Sevinc said, “Turkish people love their food. When they have their breakfast, they already think about what they will have for lunch or dinner.”
Kemal is quite the celebrity in his home country that has been recently renamed Turkiye, and his love for Turkish cuisine is well-known.
Turkish consulate general Orhan Yalman Okan highlighted the IndoTurkish ties on the occasion. He said, “As a diplomat, one of our duties is to further increase the cultural relations and people to people interactions between Turkiye and India.”
He arranged a presentation of Turkish food by a celebrated chef. The diplomat has been posted in India only for three months, and this was his first public event.
Okan said there were deep cultural and historical ties between Turkiye and Hyderabad. “In order to make both sides closer and more familiar to each other, we are holding this event. If we make Indian people enjoy Turkish food here, then we will make them feel much closer and familiar to the Turkish culture,” he said.
The festival, titled 'Flavours of Turkiye,’ will be held from Thursday to July 3.
The inaugural event on Wednesday featured authentic Turkish delicacies like Ezogelin Cirbasi (red lentil soup), Kuzu Tandir (roasted lamb) and Perde Pilavi (pastry encrusted pilaf with chicken, nuts and raisins), with servers dressed in traditional Turkish attires.
