Chanchalguda road closure results in huge traffic snalrls
Closure of one section of roadway near Chanchalguda Jail due to the ongoing construction works of a flyover is causing huge traffic snarls at Chanchalguda-IS Sadan road stretch.
To facilitate conflict-free traffic movement from Nalgonda X Roads to the Owaisi Hospital Junction, the GHMC has undertaken the elevated corridor project as part of the Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP) at a cost of `523.37 crore.
The length of the corridor is 3.382 km, out of which the flyover length would be 2.58 km.
The works of the flyover as part of elevated corridor project are going on, due to which one section of roadway from the jail petrol pump to Saidabad X Roads has been closed. This creates a bottleneck near Saidabad X Roads, resulting in the Malakpet-Santosh
Nagar stretch via Saidabad, Dhobighat and IS Sadan junctions being heavily choked with vehicular movement during the peak hours.
Commuters, though, are glad about the work being undertaken. However, there have been complaints about the ordeal they face due to poor traffic management along with the stretch and traffic jams for hours.
Abdul Aleem, a resident of Hafiz Baba Nagar, said the works had been started without widening the road. “The GHMC authorities should first widen the road by demolishing the acquired road and then start the works. This is the main road that connects Santosh Nagar, Saidabad, Hafiz Baba Nagar and other areas with other parts of the city,” he said.
