Long power cuts irk city residents

Parts of the city on Monday faced proonged power cuts, causing irked residents to take to social media to vent their anger. The temperatur­e in the city which had reached a sweltering 39º Celsius, only made matters worse.

“Power cut at Hyderabad Attapur Panduranga nagar colony from 2:15pm. could u plz restore it? (sic),” tweeted Ramesh Kumar K.

“Frequent power cuts in the past five days have turned out be a latest regular problem for us in Quthbullap­ur, Hyderabad. The situation is more troublesom­e for us who are working from home and patients isolated at home (sic).” said Raj ET on Twitter.

While some people were tired of having power cuts in the summer, others said that the power supply in the city was patchy, at best.

When contacted by this newspaper, an official of the Telangana State Southern Power Distributi­on Compoany Limited said that there were certain transmissi­on issues, due to wind in the morning. However, they were firm that no power cut lasted for hours, and most of the disruption­s towards Monday evening was due to “maintenanc­e work”.
