Recoveries beat active +ve cases

For the first time in so many days, there was some positive news in

Covid-19 front as number of Covid positive persons recovered was higher than those under treatment.

The total number of patients recovered is

1,35,205 while the number of active cases is 1,33,632 and the recovery rate is

48.88%. As many as 5,991 patients were cured in the last 24 hours while 9,985 fresh cases were detected and 279 new deaths were registered.

According to covid19Ind­ia.org total cases so far is 2,79,722 and 7780 deaths while as per John Hopkins University India has reported 2,76,583 cases and 7745 deaths so far.

However, overall cases in India on Wednesday, as per union health ministry was 2,76,583 out of which

7,745 have died. Meanwhile, in a bid to bring in some order and transparen­cy in Delhi’s medical system that is reeling under novel coronaviru­s pandemic, Lt Governor Anil Baijal on Wednesday ordered all hospitals and nursing homes to display availabili­ty of beds (both Covid and non-Covid) on LED boards outside their establishm­ents. Hospitals and nursing homes have been also asked to display treatment cost including room charges, and details of the contact person for admission.

The order came following complaint by people over non availabili­ty of beds in hospitals leading to deaths in several cases. Delhi LG had on Sunday overruled a Delhi government order that said state government hospitals will be reserved for residents of Delhi only.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the order of the LG will be followed in ‘letter and spirit’ as there was no time for politics at this hour of crisis.

In view of large number of cases expected in Delhi in the coming days, Delhi government has started taking over banquet halls, hotels and big spaces including stadia to address shortage of beds in the city. The beds will be equipped with oxygen cylinders etc.

The total number of cases in Delhi has reached to 31, 309 with 1,366 new cases. Delhi has reported 905 deaths out of which 31 took place in last 24 hours. Delhi has highest number of cases after Mumbai.
