Woman cop on `200 cr hacking case trail fired at

An unknown person on Saturday night fired at a woman police officer who is investigat­ing a case in which an attempt was made to hack a `200 crore account of a corporate entity. The incident took place at around 9 pm on Saturday at Virar Phata in Virar of Palghar district when assistant police inspector Sidhbhava Jaybhaye was travelling in her car.

As per reports, the masked biker fired a bullet at her, but the bullet hit the bonnet of her car. A police team rushed to the spot as soon as they came to know about the incident and found the woman police officer safe and sound as the bullet missed her.

Ms Jaybhaye is incharge of the crime branch of Palghar police. The police has already commenced probe into the incident and have started scanning CCTV footage.

The officer is instrument­al in foiling a hacking attempt by seven people into a bank account of a corporate entity. The accused were trying to steal `200 crore from the bank account.

The police said that the accused gang includes a bank executive and a techie.

As per reports, the police has already arrested seven persons, including the bank executive and a techie, on the evening of March 3 from Nallasopar­a. The police nabbed them from the parking area of a shopping mall. The gang was planning to steal `150 crore from the account of the company’s account in three instalment­s of `50 crore each and transfer the sum to an account holder in Nagaland.
