Police arrests Maoist courier with tiffin box containing explosives

The apprehensions of the State police that Maoists would try to create disruption during the Assembly elections have been proved correct with the arrest of a courier working for the Maoist party for the last 15 years.
The person was caught with a tiffin box containing explosives at Thadvai in Bhupalpally district.
A fortnight earlier, action teams of Maoist party had conducted a recce in Bhupalpally district. Meanwhile, 17 militants were also arrested with the fear that may indulge in violence during the forthcoming elections in the State.
About four days ago, the Thadvai police received information that a courier of the Maoist party was transporting explosives and was waiting at the Lavvala village bus stop. The police team along with a Central Reserve Police Force personnel rushed to the bus stop and conducted checking.
Giving strength to the suspicions of the police, a man carrying a handbag started running out of the bus station on seeing the police teams. He was apprehended and questioned. The suspect was identified as Vetti Iduma alias Ramesh, 35, a native of Bothalanka village in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh.
Iduma, who works as a labourer, has been working as a Maoist party courier for the last 15 years and living at Jalagalancha Gumpu, a hamlet under Kondaparthi village in Tadvai mandal of Bhupalpally district.
Iduma’s brother-in-law Madivi Kaya alias Aduma alias Ramesh is an active member of Maoist party. The handbag continued a tiffin box with explosives which were given to him at the bus stand by some unknown persons, said sources police.
The officials have found that Madivi who is currently Area Committee Commander of Yellandu and Narsampet areas had recently visited Jalgalancha Gumpu hamlet.
“Madivi has been motivating Iduma and others at the hamlet to join the party cadre for the last five years. Iduma has been a courier for his brother-in-law, who passed on information and also materials,” said the officials.
What raised the apprehensions of the police close to the about the movement of Maoist party members, was that Madivi, one of the most wanted by the Telangana and Chhattisgarh police, was one amongst the action team members who conducted a recce recently in the State. The Siricilla and Kothagudem police have released his photographs along with other associates announcing `5 lakh reward for sharing information about Madivi.
The Tadvai police has booked a case against Iduma under section 120 (b) of IPC, section 8 (i) (ii) of Public Safety Act and section 5 of Explosives Act and seized the steel tiffin box, the explosive material, one detonator and wire and arrested him.
