Errors on pattadar passbooks irk KCR

CM orders officials not to rest till rectification is done

- DC CORRESPONDENT

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Wednesday expressed unhappiness over errors that crept in the pattadar passbooks being issued to agriculture land-owners even after purification of revenue records.

He said these errors were causing severe inconveniece to farmers and directed officials to rectify the errors immediately and issue new passbooks.

Mr Rao asked officials not to rest till the distribution of pattadar passbooks, Rythu Bandhu cheques and the land records rectification was complete.

Mr Rao was addressed the collectors' conference at Pragathi Bhavan on Wednesday to

review the progress of distribution of passbooks and cheques.

Mr Rao told the officers that taking into consideration the gigantic task that had been undertaken to distibute passbooks to over 58 lakh farmers, there was a possibility of some mistakes being committed. They should take this as a challenge and work to achieve greater accuracy.

Due to reorganisation of districts and formation of small districts, it had become easy for the collec- tors to more effectively supervise the process. This has to be viewed as a favourable development, he said.

Mr Rao said that from next month the new registration policy as well as the farmers insurance scheme would come into effect. As such it was necessary to keep the land records updated and properly maintained.

“How would this be possible, unless the land records rectification and updation is perfectly done and land ownership is exactly decided,” he asked.

Mr Rao said, “Most of the farmers are small and marginal farmers. As many as 18 lakh farmers hold just below one acre of land. When such a farmer dies, his family will have to face lot of hardship. Hence the government has decided to insure the farmer’s life.”

He said the government would pay `5 lakh to the family of a farmer on his or her death. “Life insurance will be provided through the Life Insurance Corporation. The premium amount on behalf of farmer shall be paid by government,” he said.
