CITY COPS ASSISTED MALAYSIAN POLICE TO CRACK THE CASE

-

During the course of the investigation, the Malaysian police found that some of the kidnapper’s calls to the victim’s family were originating from Hyderabad. The Rachakonda police assisted them in identifying the locations of the towers through which the calls were routed.

The offenders used the victim’s phone to contact his family via WhatsApp, but the victim’s brother Ramsingh Rajpurohith received a few threat calls from local numbers as well.

Mahesh M. Bhagwat, police commissioner of Rachakonda, told DC that they had provided the Malaysian police with the necessary information. “The threat calls were made from some locations within the city. Whatever information the Malaysian police requested for, we provided it. So far, we have not registered a case as the crime took place in Kuala Lumpur,” he said.

Besides the Malaysian police, a private detective agency is also investigating the case. Private investigators also visited Rachakonda and requested the police for their assistance. The city police will conduct a census in areas around Taj Falaknuma Hotel in view of the visits by Ms Ivanka Trump, advisor to the White House and daughter of US President Donald Trump, Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi and other delegates on November 28 for the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES).

According to sources, the intelligence agencies have pointed out the presence of a few families who are reported to be ISIS sympathisers. Some of them were caught earlier or are under surveillance.

“To discourage antisocial elements in the neighbourhood around the hotel, a census is being taken up. Details of all the families are recorded,” said a senior police official.

On Friday morning, the police conducted a search and cordon operation in the areas of Al Jubail Colony, Farooqnagar, Fatimanagar, Jangammet, Bandlaguda and Chandrayanguttam falling on route to Falaknuma.

The police rounded up about 69 persons, including historysheeters, petty offenders and other suspects. All of them, except four persons against who non-bailable warrants are pending, were released, the police said.

The police also caught eight persons who were involved in property offences in the state. The police seized 34 motorcycles and three auto rickshaws as the owners failed to show the documents of the vehicles.
