BJP hq goes hi-tech for Shah

The state BJP headquarters has been geared up with hi-tech facilities like video conferencing ahead of the visit of Union home minister Rajnath Singh and BJP president Amit Shah in September.

State BJP president Dr K. Laxman said Mr Shah had agreed to visit the state in September to further strengthen the party to put up a great show in 2019.

Though the dates for the three-day tour are yet to be finalised, Dr Laxman said party committees right from the grassroot level would be in place by the time Mr Shah reaches Hyderabad.

He said Mr Rajnath Singh had agreed to attend a public meeting in connection with Hyderabad Liberation Day celebrations organised by the BJP on September 17. He said that though the BJP had been demanding that state government should celebrate the event officially, the TRS was not doing so due to vote bank politics and pressure from its Old City ally MIM.

Dr Laxman alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has failed miserably in utilising the Central government funds but was blaming the Centre on one pretext of the other to cover up his failures.

Replying to a question Dr Laxman said every activity the state BJP was taking up was aimed at strengthening the party in the state. He said the BJP leadership had found Telangana state had the potential to play a key role for the party in 2019.

In a related development, Mr Rajen Gohain, Union minister of state for Railways, who spoke to the media along with Dr Laxman, said, several key railway projects in the state were getting delayed due to non-cooperation of the state government though the Centre was funding them well.

He said the railways had taken up `17,445 crore worth projects in the state, and the Centre had sanctioned more funds this year over last year. The government was not releasing its funds for MMTS-2.

He said the government was to release `566 crore as its share but had given `60 crore. The Railways had released `395 crore, `112 crore more than it had promised. He said even for the extension of MMTS to Yadadri, a project of Mr Rao, the government had not given funds.
