TV star Karanvir Bohra (Viraj Dobriyal in TV thriller Dil Se Di Dua... Saubhagyavati Bhava) has taken the word ‘saleabrity’ to the next level. All set for a Hyderabad visit — he’s attending a party of sorts — Bohra’s representatives told DC that the star will be available for interview at a cost of a whopping `1 lakh!
The demand for cash was surprising as DC had carried a full interview of Bohra recently. And yes, last time we checked even Amitabh Bachchan didn’t ask for cash.
When asked why the sudden change in budget, Bohra’s representatives said, the “package” involved a full 30-minute exclusive with the star. An organiser explained further. “In Mumbai, interviews don’t take much time. But in Hyderabad, it is not very often that television or film actors come down. Moreover, for such a long period of time one can ask him anything.”
Yup, we have a question though. Heard of Tollywood?
The event, at a city pub, promises “interaction and dancing” with Bohra, following which journalists have been promised ‘long interviews’.
There was further justification for the hefty ‘payto-talk’ scheme.
“The PR person of Karanvir has charged the amount to keep it all exclusive and it would be available only to select media who pay him. Maybe, they want to keep the event tidy,” revealed another organiser. I nteres- t i ngly, the event also has three categories of sponsorships which ranges from `1 lakh to `2.5 lakh. The highest, a Platinum Sponsorship will also get a visit from the actor.
