- DC CORRESPONDENT VISAKHAPATNAM, JAN. 15

A 21-year-old girl and second-year degree student of a private college was murdered by her cousin in a beauty parlour near Kailashanagar under Gajuwaka police station limits in Vizag city on Tuesday morning.

The attacker killed the girl with a sharp sickle after his marriage proposal was turned down by the girl and her family. Locals nabbed the culprit while he was trying to escape.

According to reports, U. Babita, 21, and her maternal uncle’s son B. Shiva Adinarayana, a driver in Vijayawada area, were in love with each other. However, their parents were against the marriage as their horoscopes didn’t match. Babita was employed in a beauty parlour near Gajuwaka area. The girl’s family requested him to stay away from them.

At around 11 am on Tuesday, Shiva went to the beauty parlour with a sickle and once again proposed to her.

The girl refused him once again. He then sent the staff and others out and closed the doors and attacked Babita who died on the spot.

Shiva was later arrested by the police.

According to the police, Shiva was stalking the girl for the past few weeks pestering her to accept his proposal.

Assistant commissioner of police (Gajuwaka) D. Ravi Babu said that they have registered a case and investigation is on.
