KCR sees rosy future, continued backing for T Cops foil bid to storm Gandhi Bhavan

- DC CORRESPONDENT HYDERABAD, DEC. 23

Hailing the victory of the TRS-supported Telangana Mazdoor Union and Employees’ Union in the APSRTC workers' union election, TRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday said similar results would be repeated in the general elections to the state assembly.

Mr Rao complimented the APSRTC’s Seemandhra employees for voting in favour of the TMU-EU combine to defeat the National Mazdoor Union which had dominated RTC’s affairs for the past several years.

The TRS chief said the NMU had even campaigned in the elections, stating that they had diluted the 43-day-old Sakala Hyderabad: Heavy deployment of police personnel foiled the attempt by some pro-Telangana organisations to seige Gandhi Bhavan, the Congress headquarters in Hyderabad. Several T-organisations on Sunday observed ‘Telangana betrayal day’ commemorating the Centre’s December 23, 2009 announcement, backtracking on formation of Telangana state after its December 9 statement. As part of the demonstration, leaders of T-organisations including the political TJAC reached Gandhi Bhavan and attempted forcible entry to the premises. Janula Samme (All People’s Strike demanding a separate T state) in the Telangana region and run bus services.

Speaking to the delegation of TMU-EU leaders after their victory in the RTC elections, Mr Rao said that a misinformation campaign by the Seemandhra political leaders had led to the people of their regions object- ing to the formation of Telangana state.

“The RTC elections make evident that the people of Seemandhra are also supporting T-formation, but only businessmen-turnedpoliticians are objecting to it,” he said.

The TRS chief said that similar results —in favour of T-formation —would be achieved in the forthcoming general elections.
