To be held from February 07-12, 2020, at India Expo Mart, in Greater Noida, the premier auto show, Auto Expo 2020, is set to host a successful edition. Held at a time when auto sales are weighed down by a slowing economy, the show, jointly organised by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Auto Components Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA), is set to draw participation from 120 auto manufacturers and 1500 auto components manufacturers. With a theme, ‘Explore the world of mobility’, the premier exhibition will occupy a total area of 2,35,000 sq. m of which the indoor area will amount to 51,000 sq. m. Seeking participation from almost all over the world, the show is expected to well exceed the visitor count of over one-lakh visitors recorded in the last edition.
CV market leader Tata Motors is expected to unveil a range of BSVI CVs as a full-range player at the expo. Queries sent to the company were not answered until the time of going to the press. Force Motors has revealed that it will be premiering a brand new shared mobility platform. This will be apart from its existing range, which would include the Monobus. JBM will display its entire CNG and electric bus range at the expo. JBM will also display battery management solutions and charging equipment. SML Isuzu will display its range of trucks and buses. The new Global Series trucks are expected to occupy the centre stage. Having kept quiet about their BSVI strategy, SML Isuzu is certain to leverage the opportunity to announce at the show that it has secured BSVI certification for its CVs. The company will display at least three new trucks based on their Global Series platform. The company will also display two buses.
While the absence of OEMs like Ashok Leyland, VE Commercial Vehicles and Daimler India will be felt, passenger car market leader Maruti Suzuki will display the petrol version of the Super Carry. The CV reflects a significant shift in SCVs -- from diesel to petrol and CNG. Mahindra & Mahindra will display its entire range of CVs, starting from the new Jeeto Plus to the BlazoX. Of particular attraction will be a new variant of the Furio ICV. The auto major is also expected to display some CV concepts that would present an idea of the future course of action. A big announcement from Mahindra & Mahindra will be its BSVI strategy. Hyderabadbased Olectra, which has an association with BYD of China, is expected to unveil a new range of electric buses to cater to the environmentally friendly mobility requirements. The T3 cargo e-van, which the company announced recently in India is expected to be showcased too.
On the CV components and equipment front, a number of tier suppliers, aftermarket players and garage equipment specialists are expected to showcase their latest offerings. Some of the prominent names include ARB Bearings, Bollhoff, Borgwarner, Lumax Industries, Uno Minda Group, NBC Bearings, Federal Mogul, Goldseal Saargummi, Sona Auto, Jindal Auto exports, Elofic Industries, UFI Filters India, Gibraltar
Air Springs, Waxpol Industries, Jumps Auto, Manatec Electronics and TVS Group.
Among other attractions, this year are specially curated zones to cater to automobile art, clean air, road safety and virtual reality. The expo will observe six special days like enterprise day, goodwill day, family day, women power day, green day and driving experience day on the sidelines of the main show. As part of the Cartist Yatra, art installations, made from scrap car parts will be displayed. Under the Sustain by Cartist initiative, a complete range of furniture claimed to have been built from automotive scrap will add to the ambience. In total, a convoy of two trucks, carrying eight art cars, a towing van, four cars, one bus will promote the concept of sustainability. On the sidelines of the show, a CII conference on modern automotive technologies for the future of mobility in India will also be held. At the ACMA Global, SME Technology Partnership Meet organised jointly with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India JVs, technical collaborations, outsourcing and insourcing opportunities are expected to shape up.
