Sweetnotes

- ERICK MASSEY

Logitech has struck a sweet deal with its Z607 5.1 Bluetooth speaker system, which impresses with its design, sound and tech. While Bluetooth connectivity is the key feature, the speaker can be easily paired with a smartphone, TV or computer.

The Logitech Z607 5.1 boasts a 5.25-inch built-in speaker with 160-watt peak power, delivering a crisp and clear sound. If bass is your concern, then this device won’t disappoint as even on full volume, there is hardly any distortion in the overall output.

The treble doesn’t get shrill either.

The subwoofer has a control panel that can be operated easily. Even if you misplace the remote, nearly all keys are available on the panel. The right side of the subwoofer has slots for SD cards and USD drives.

Usually, speakers have short cables, which can be a problem. A rough measure suggests the cables for the rear speaker are around six metres long, so you can easily keep them at the place of your choice. There is also a small space behind the speakers to mount them on a wall.

The tiny remote works well within a good range, and has buttons for functions including tuning for radio stations and toggle between 2.1 and 5.1. The cables for front, centre and rear satellite speakers are coloured with dedicated sections on the back of the subwoofer, making it easy for the user to connect all the speakers.

Having used Logitech speakers earlier, I’d say its latest offering is impressive and there are some improvements in sound quality, especially mid and high.

With a price tag of ~10,995, this may not be a proper budget speaker as F&D and Zebronics offer tough competition, but sound quality sets the Logitech Z607 5.1 apart from the others. If you just want loud sound, this may not be the device for you. If you seek quality, go for it.
