Unstaffed bank branch

China Construction Bank recently opened an unstaffed branch in Huangpu district, Shanghai, which is China's first fully automated bank branch.
There are no tellers or other members of staff, not even security staff. All the facilities in the branch, including the two robots, ATMs, foreign exchange machine and an assortment of multimedia tools are self-service. To use the facilities customers scan their faces to confirm their identity and gain access to complete the facilities to their business.
It is expected other banks will also launch similar unmanned branches nationwide, as the banking sector steps into the artificial intelligence era.
To some extent, the launch of the unstaffed branch will force the banking industry to accelerate reform. All financial institutions, including domestic banks, face the challenges brought by artificial intelligence. But artificial intelligence also offers opportunities as the application of artificial intelligence will help banks achieve hightech transformation.
Meanwhile, the application of artificial intelligence also poses a threat to bank employees. If artificial intelligence is widely applied, many bank staff will lose their jobs. The entire industry, including bank staff, should prepare for this.
