Buntin on the ‘money’ with hat-trick
Hustlers, Money Team, Young Ballers of Crane and Jetty Gunners won their matches when the third annual Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ West Demerara/East Bank Demerara zone continued Tuesday at the Pouderoyen Tarmac.
Hustlers blanked Bagotstown Warriors 2-0. John Waldron opened the scoring in the second minute with a strike from the right side of the field into the centre of the net.
Rastaf Oselmo sealed the win in the 17th minute with a first time effort from the right side after collecting a left side pass from Waldron.
Hustlers then returned crush Prospect Jammers 2-0.
Donovan Francis broke the deadlock in the seventh minute, slotting home from the right side, after collecting a left side pass from Waldron.
The result was then sealed in the 11th minute when Waldron found the back of the net with a simple tap in from the left side following a two-on-one situation with the final defender.
In another encounter, Money Team dismantled Goed Fortuin 3-0. Amoniki Buntin recorded the first ever hat-trick on the zone with conversions in the fifth, seventh and 18th minute.
Meanwhile, Young Ballers of Crane humbled the Gas Team 30. to Lindsay Scott, Tefon Welcome and Oswin Boyce scored in the 11th, 17th and 19th minute respectively.
Jetty Gunners edged Police 10 through a Shane Hamilton 12th minute effort.
In other results, Golden Warriors edged Shattaville Gunners 3-2 on sudden death penalty kicks after regulation time ended 1-1.
Stephon Griffith gave Shattaville the lead in the first minute while Akeem Houston equalised in the 14rh minute.
Goal Getters squeaked past Classic-7 2-0 on penalty kicks after normal time ended 1-1. Kevin Gordon gave Goal Getters the lead in the fourth minute whilst Daniel Gibson equalised in the ninth minute.
Also, Brothers United overcame West Side Starz 3-2 on sudden death penalty kicks after regulation time finished scoreless.
Harmony Ballers defeated Best Road Ballers 2-1 on penalty kicks, following a 0-0 at the end of normal time.
The other teams that have sealed their berths to the group round are holders Showstoppers, former winner West Side Ballers, Admiral United , ESPN, Patentia Street Ballers, Good Intent AllStars, De Kinderen Ballers and Future Crane. The remaining 16 teams will now be divided into four groups of four. At the end of the group round, the top two finishers from each pool will progress to the quarterfinal section. The event will resume tomorrow with the opening round of group matches. In the first fixture at 19:00hrs, West Side Ballers opposes Brothers United while the Money Team will engages Jetty Gunners at 19:30hrs. At 20:00hrs, ESPN will tackle Harmony Ballers while Tajoe’s Admiral United will engage De Kinderen at 20:30hrs. The fifth fixture at 21:00hrs will pit Patentia Street Ballers against Agricola while Young Ballers will oppose Goal Getters from 21:30hrs. In the eighth fixture at 10:00hrs, Hustlers will tackle Golden Warriors while defending champion Showstoppers match skills with Goed Intent All-Stars at 10:30hrs. The final fixture at 11:00hrs will witness Hustlers against Patentia Street Ballers.
