Unified through history — security forces ready

- By PAULINI CURUQARA

UNIFIED through history will be this year’s FMF Sukuna Bowl theme.

The much anticipated Sukuna Bowl will be a different atmosphere where a new Tanoa will be the main prize.

The previous coveted 71-year-old Sukuna Bowl was damaged in a fire that occurred at the 3FIR Building at QEB last December.

“I know in the last few months or so our colleagues from the Nasova have been up in the sand dunes in Sigatoka, bearing the sun and sand to try and better their performance to what happened last year, by using at the time of need,” he said.

“And that was all because of a process, a process everyone believed in a process that was designed by the coach’s team before, up until the very last minute of 2021. And they proved themselves worthy to be champions of divergent thinking. But there is a statement that was shared with a very well famous leader and he said that if you want to change the world, then you’d have to start by making your bed suppose you it is a very simple statement.

“It is that speaks volumes of a process that needs to be part of a process that guarantees incremental success. The All Blacks teach the players the importance of sweeping the sheds, despite the millions of dollars that they invested on both individually and collectively. Each all black is motivated to believe that none of them is never too big to do the small things that needs to be done. Such teachings instil values that strengthen and builds the character that when they win thought that they leave it to the others to play some of the virtues that they want.

“So what does that mean for the RFMF, what does it mean for our aspirations of defending this coveted Sukuna Bowl. How have we incorporated our modest win last year to this year’s preparations for the SukunaBowl 2022 with as well as it has made us realise that success is about balancing pride with the concept is having absolute pride in performing and total humility before the magnitude of the task.”

Kalouniwi laid down the challenge to his opponent saying humility does not mean weakness, it is the opposite.

“It is the very essence and the foundation upon which our team prepares and is predicated upon key preparations within direct weapons is our ability to trust the process,” he said.

“The process designed to develop our soldiers to be the very best both on and off the field. We believe it is no longer about talent and talent today is irrelevant. It’s something that we will not be banking on when you put the soldiers or the players over the field.”
