Group brings life to elderly
VOLUNTEERS of Selfless Fiji made it their mission to bring life to residents and staff of Father Law Home in Suva.
NGO founder Solomone Rabuli said the project began on September 24.
“We continued for five weeks straight as volunteers met up every Saturday to get works done,” he said.
“Apart from painting and artworks – maintenance and donation drive to help the home in terms of material, such shelves and cabinets were also done.
“We have always set out a timeline to complete the work at a given period and it’s very important to have that sort of discipline so that we able to move on to our next project and what has been outlined in our timeline.”
Mr Rabuli said teamwork and unity was always a key strength of the group.
“So far, the group has completed projects at St Christophers Orphanage, Muaira District School (Naitasiri), Nabalabala Kindergarten (Ra) and Father Law Home.
“We are so thankful to the ANZ Staff Foundation for accommodating our paints and having their staff members involved with the project not forgetting A Signs & Creations for designing the banner for Father Law Home and the Taulelea family who are specialised in welding and others who were involved but wish to be anonymous.
“Thankful to the nuns, Sister Aliti and Sister Diana, and the board members for providing us an opportunity to create a new look for the home and we are grateful.”
The group’s next project is the Juvenile Centre in Samabula.
“This will begin next year as we are currently waiting for refurbishment to complete and we will undertake a new work in their new look at the centre.
“We are also looking forward to collaborating with Foundation for the Education of Needy Children in Fiji (FENC Fiji) in December.”
