Savusavu Town beautification to enhance tourist attraction
The Nawi Island Limited staff and support team remain focused on beautifying the landscape of Savusavu Town to enhance its touristic profile.
This affirmation was known in an interview with Project General Manager, Lindsay Lee, recently. The Nawi team presented its environment beautification plans for the town, during the visit of the Minister for Lands and Mineral Resources, Filimoni Vosarogo, on Friday.
The Nawi Island International marina was its final phase, set to open in late March or early April, this year.
The Balaga Bay boatyard would also accommodate phase 1 as part of the $100 million investment. Mr Lee said the initiative drive saw them donating a good number of rubbish/litter bins to be installed at various locations in Savusavu.
“We are committed towards donating more litter bins to encourage the Savusavu public to become environmental cautions with clean surroundings,” he reiterated.
The humble gentleman said they have community engagement programmes as well to promote the spirit of greenery and clean environment.
A planting competion where people can showcase their backyard and home flower and vegetable gardens would be conducted as well.
Prizes for the best backyard and home gardens would also be given. It is expected to become an annual commitment and play an important community role to promote better living environment for its residents and incoming tourists in Savusavu.
The highly anticipated Marina opening Mr Lee, believes is a time not to be missed for tourists to witness a new feature and point of attraction in Savusavu.

Town Council
Savusavu Town Council, chief executive officer, Seema Dutt, confirmed construction of the 20 wooden litter bins had completed.
Ms Dutt said installation of these bins will begin from today (Monday) at various sites in the Central Business District of the town.
However, a one week time frame have been set to cater for unforeseen weather conditions.
“Town beautification is a collaborative approach and the business community and tourism association is pivotal of creating this positive image,” she added.
Chamber of Commerce
Savusavu Chamber of Commerce and Industries President, Ravi Chhaganlal, supported the Nawi Island environment projects. Mr Chhaganlal believed the Marina development and town beautification exercise would stimulate increasing business activities.
