Nalawa Aims For Top
Aaron ‘Thunder’ Jimi Nalawa wants to make a name in the sport he loves - boxing. The 24-year old Nakorotubu, Ra native will face Saven Singh of Labasa in the lightweight division over four rounds in the Canada Fiji Southern Boxing Promotions at the Prince Charles Park, Nadi on October 13.
This will be his second professional fight after being involved as an amateur in the last four years. He made his debut in March where he won by technical knockout over Jone Bouwalu in Nadi.
“This is my second professional fight as there had been a couple of good amateur fights with the Mudaliar brothers,” he said.
“I will try to do my best. After my last fight I have been keeping my fitness until now.”
He thanked the promoter for the fight and he has done a lot to accommodate while working for the Water Authority of Fiji.
“I do wake up at 4am and do my training and be at home at 6am then ready to go to work,”he said. “I knocked off at 4.30pm and hit the gym at 5pm and at 8pm back at home to spend time with family,” he added.
He is still single and resides in Saru Back Road.
“I know he has fought some good fights in Fiji but I really take the challenge,” Nalawa said.
“My dream is to fight for a world title,” he said. Boxing programme:
