Claypot cuisine opens in Suva

Hong Kong Claypot Cuisine (HKCC) hosted Parliament staff members including Speaker of the House, Dr Jiko Luveni at their restaurant in Suva yesterday. Hong Kong Claypot Cuisine which recently opened in MHCC. It is, according to restaurant owner Feng Dong, a one of a kind. Mrs Feng said they wanted to give a taste of a classic Cantonese dish to those parliament employees and the public. “HKCC offers you a special dish that you will hardly find in any eatery,” Mrs Feng said.

She added the $120,000 investment specialise­d in a special dish known as the claypot. “We serve more than 150 serves per day and a serve is sold at $8.

“Right now we want to focus on HKCC but we will definitely open our branch elsewhere once our business grows.” Ten staff members are currently employed. The restaurant opens from 9am to 9pm Monday to Sunday. Wonder what a unique Chinese dish tastes like?

About the claypot dish

Claypot originated from Cantonese cuisine, but is now becoming popular throughout China. The term generally refers to rice with marinated meat and vegetables, cooked in one pot, then drizzled with a flavorful sauce.

Perfectly cooked claypot rice has a great flavor of all the ingredient­s, with nicely crisped rice on the bottom of the pot. It is now a popular dish in countries such as the Philippine­s and Malaysia.
