MBABANE – Swallows players took turns posing with the Africa Day trophy in bed, a trend that was made famous by Argentina Captain Lionel Messi after winning the World Cup.
Messi, who is dubbed as one of the greatest footballer of alltime, posted pictures of himself in bed with the World Cup trophy after he and his teammates returned to Argentina to a hero’s welcome last year in December. Argentina Captain Messi shared the images of himself in bed with the cup at the AFA complex on Instagram on Tuesday morning, with the post attracting over 76 million likes on Instagram.
Umkhonto KaShaka players, after defeating Amazulu 2-0 in the one-day International friendly match at Harry Gwala Stadium, were quick to also take turns posing with their trophy following the ‘GOAT’ style, while booked at the luxurious Coastlands Umhlanga Hotel and Convention Centre. Some of the players, when interviewed, said it was a great feeling to win the trophy even
“This is my first trophy in the club and I’m happy that we won the game against AmaZulu. The game turned out to be very competitive. Winning the trophy is a good thing for the club’s name.”

“The game was not easy, especially because we were already switched though it was just a friendly match. Kwakhe Thwala said it was a great game and they were happy to defeat AmaZulu, who were playing in one of Africa’s top leagues.
