My name is Nobuhle Kunene you can call me ‘Your Highnessseni’ because I am a queen in my own castle.

I am from Manzini, Brema Fairview North. I grew up and stayed there most of my life and I still like spending my spare time there.

Where What are you from? is

NOBUHLE

Kunene is not only a model but an entrepreneur who believes the modeling agency has been stereotyped for long enough and wants people to start taking the profession seriously, all judgments aside.

What is your name and surname? your profession?

I am an entrepreneur. I actually own my own beauty parlor, you can check our business page on the socials, and it is called IG Infinity Beauty Parlor.

What made you decide to get into the beauty parlor business?

I have passion for it and it was self taught. I never went to school to learn it mainly because in this digital age YouTube has made things easy for us. I did a few tutorials and each day I got better. As time went by I decided to open a small business and do manicure and pedicure. The idea worked like magic because I got a lot of customers coming in to support and that I believe was all through the grace of God.

How long have you been in the business for?

I have been in the business for a year and a half now.

What have you learnt from having this business?

I have learnt that in this business there is a lot of competition and you need to keep practicing to better your skills. It is also good to experiment with

art, because manicure changes over time, now there are different styles and techniques one has to be acquainted with to stay relevant and get more clients.

How has COVID-19 affected your business?

It actually was not bad at all because it gave me time to focus on perfecting my manicure skills through YouTube, so I spent most of my time doing that.

How long have you been a model for?

It has been three years however, I have been signed under the Rhythm Modeling Agency for a year now, where I got the opportunity to get promoted to be an assistant manager and my modeling career started to take off from there on.

What made you venture modeling as a career? Who is your inspiration? into

I believe that I never chose modeling but modeling chose me. It saw a perfect fit in me; I have always wanted to be a model since I was 15 years old. All influence came from the models I saw on television doing runway shows, wearing designer clothes. It really looked appealing and spectacular which made me fantasise about being one.

Which companies have you modeled professionally for?

I have modeled for a lingerie company called We Divine Konfidential, Ace Apparel, Raven Wardrobe store and I have been a hostess for IllaPenboy’s events including the likes of Makoti Festival.

It has to be Nolwazi Snowed Simelane who for me is one of the greatest models in Eswatini. She has put the flag of the country high plus, she is an international model. She is a winner in my eyes and has done a lot for modeling in Eswatini. Another model I look up to is Winnie Harlow she is an international model and one of the top models and to top it all she is an entrepreneur and has established her own brand.

What do you look forward to in your career path?

I cannot wait for bigger wins and more growth. I get overwhelmed at the thought of where my modeling career is going and how far it will take me. I am looking forward to working with big brands in and out of the country. On another note I do not like the fact that people have the notion that the modeling industry is about being nude and it does not pay. I am a living testimony of that.

What would you say to future upcoming models?

In this modeling world it is not easy but you can make it. The best way is for you to know who you are and to always remember what made you choose modeling in the first place. Never let negativity put you down; you should refuse to entertain negativity because life is full of beauty and if you focus on the positive aspect all will work in your favor.

What else are you doing besides modeling?

I am also a hostess and a video vixen, I would love to try deejaying but that will come at a later stage.

Where do you see yourself as a model in the next two years?

In the next two years I want to be an international model travelling all over Africa and working with designers, showcasing on runways. Actually my modeling career has to reach the next level because I believe that I am currently on the first level.

Do you want to enter Miss Eswatini at some point, if not why?

That could be an amazing opportunity; it takes courage to enter beauty pageants because you are competing with a lot of other beautiful women. Yet again entering a competition of that magnitude opens doors of opportunity and it is a big deal.

Do you see yourself on billboards?

Yes I most certainly see myself on billboards. I am working hard to get such opportunities and with all that I pray big companies recognise me and work with me .

Do you want to continue your career as a model in Eswatini or do you see yourself going elsewhere?

Honestly, I would love to relocate in order to be exposed to better opportunities. We all want what is best for us.

Being in this industry I have learnt that a lot of people never understand the idea of being a model, they can call you by names when you post pictures in your bikini. They can never tell the difference between nude and bikini. With all that said though if you are comfortable in your own skin modeling is amazing and for those who wish to be models in our country must never hesitate to come and join us at The Rhythm Modeling Agency, I believe that it is one of the best agencies in the country. We are not an agency but a family. We also need more plus size models in the industry. There are a lot of opportunities in the modeling industry, all it takes is believing in yourself.
