11 athletes off to Botswana

M– The Athletics Eswatini (AE) has sent 11 athletes to Botswana for the World Athletics Continenta­l Tour Bronze Gaborone 2022.

AE Public Relations Officer (PRO), Victor ‘Mavikane’ Dlamini, said the athletes left the country yesterday morning en route Botswana.

“We picked the best athletes in terms of their times, and as we speak, they are on their way to Gaborone for the competitio­n,” Dlamini said.

He said the Eswatini Olympic and Commonweal­th Games Associatio­n (EOCGA), was the one which financed the trip for the athletes.

“We would like to thank EOCGA for the financial assistance towards loluhambo, as a federation we appreciate the assistance that we normally get from them,” he said.

Dlamini said the reason they honoured the invite from Botswana, was because they were preparing the athletes for internatio­nal events, such as the commonweal­th games.

He further said the team was led by Thoba Mazibuko and coached by Muzi Mabuza. The games start today and finish tomorrow.
