MBABANE - Ratepayers of the Nhlangano Town Council stand a chance of winning a variety of prizes.

That is if they manage to pay their rates by the end of the month. This was announced by newly-appointed Town Clerk Babsy Mavuso. According to Mavuso, the municipality has launched a competition themed ‘Pay Your Rates Competition’.

“Yes it is true. If ratepayers pay their rates by December 31, they stand a chance to win fabulous prizes. The draw will be conducted on January 20, 2022,” said Mavuso. He mentioned that the prizes to be won would include a goat, camp chair, gift hamper, paint, electric kettle and an iron, to name a few.

“We are doing this to encourage our clients to do the right thing, which is paying their rates on time. Paying rates is important because the funds are used to help improve service delivery in the town. We have a duty to ensure that our town grows. The prizes are just an incentive and a way of showing our appreciation to the ratepayers,” he stated. Mavuso’s appointment to lead the town was announced last week. He joined it having been with the Hilton Garden Inn, where he was the Head of Sales. He is one of the most experienced individuals in corporate communications and sales and marketing in the country.

Worth noting is that in his acceptance speech, Mavuso mentioned that he joined the municipality to transform it for the better.

He highlighted that the vision was to make Nhlangano the city of choice, something he said would only be possible if the council worked together with all stakeholders.

He also mentioned that they would develop a stakeholder engagement strategy which would give them the much-needed impetus to deliver meaningful and tailor-made service to the ratepayers.
