MBABANE - His Majesty King Mswati III has ordered Ingatja from the four regions of the country to test for COVID-19 in readiness for the upcoming national assignment.

The young boys are expected to participate in the cutting of sacred shrubs (lusekwane) and red leaves (imbondvo) used for decorations during the course of Incwala Ceremony.

Speaking through Indvuna Qomentanyeni Magagula, the King urged the young boys to visit their nearest heathcare centres and royal residences for testing.

The King further stated that the Ingatja would vaccinate for COVID-19 upon their return from fetching the sacred shrubs.

This, he said, was to ensure that the young boys were all vaccinated before taking part in the upcoming main Incwala Ceremony, which is likely to take place next week.

Vaccination for COVID-19 is a prerequisite for those who will be celebrating the harvest of the first fruit inside Ludzidzini Cattle Byre during the main Incwala Day.

His Majesty emphasised that fresh negative COVID-19 test results would also be required upon entry. The King, who is currently dancing at Buhleni Royal Residence, is expected to recall the regiment from all the four corners of the country to Ngabezweni Royal Residence in readiness of commissioning of Ingatja. EmaSwati, including Lutsango, warriors, Ingatja and Imbali, are currently dancing the ongoing Little Incwala at the other royal residences.

The commissioning of Ingatja takes place during the full moon, which is likely to happen on Sunday, according to Moon Giant website. Worth noting is that the King marches with the Ingatja and the warriors.
