Nonjabuliso leading WFL scorer

- BY PHOLSILE HLOPHE

MBABANE – She is setting the pace.

That is none other than Royal Leopard’s Nonjabuliso Mokgale who visited the net five times in the opening week of the Women’s Football League, where the police side celebrated 7-0 victory against Southern Divas. Her accomplice, Thulisile Thring scored a brace which placed them in the second spot on the log table.

Mokgale will be on the look out to stretch her lead when they take on Shiselweni Roses on Saturday at the Lobamba Technical Centre. Kappa Ladies’ Siphesihle Dlamini prolific strikers from Young Buffaloes, Celiwe Nkambule and her accomplice Tenanile Ngcamphalala made a significant contribution to the 26 goals registered last week.

Brace

When Green Mamba edged Callies Happy Girls who went down by 31, it was Marry Phiri, who scored a brace and Sebenele Shabangu added one more. Amazed by the shower of goals after missing an entire season of football action, Eswatini Women’s Football Association (EWFA) Chairman of the Competitions Committee, Lucky Dube, predicted a thrilling season.

“It shows that the players were hungry for action. Well, some of the teams are too strong because their players were active in the national team and started a preseason training early. Buffaloes scored 10 goals against Mbabane Swallows and we hope to see most of the teams turning the corner this weekend,” Dube said.

On Sunday, Mbabane Swallows will face Green Mamba at the Eswatini Football Association (EFA)

Technical Centre at Lobamba at 2pm. Illovo hosts Young Buffaloes at Mayaluka Stadium, starting at 11am.
