King’s speech turned to Amapiano song

MBABANE - There is never a dull moment on social media.

Despite the ongoing COVID- 19 pandemic and the political unrest that has halted the entertainm­ent scenes, content creators are still creating relevant content and finding humour in every situation.

A f e w weeks a go, t he c ountr y faced a political unrest that caused a lot of turbulence­s in many sectors including the entertainm­ent sector. Fun hubs were reported to be vandalised causing a major setback for these places to host any shows.

This then led to His Royal Highness, King Mswati calling emaSwati to Sibaya.

On July 16, 2021 King Mswati III addressed the nation and officially announced the new Prime Minister Cleopas Sipho Dlamini.

On t he ot her hand, i t i s worth noting that popular TikTok songs help videos go viral on t he platform and l and a coveted spot on the For You page. And while new songs are being created and added to the applicatio­n every day, some standouts have already risen to the heights of TikTok fame this year, consequent­ly t he video with t he King’s speech and Amapiano sound has landed on the list.

Local users are uploading the video; some have used the background song as a meme.

It was also seen being uploaded by other users from South Africa.

Speaking to one of the users who preferred to remain anonymous, he said the song was a hit.

He also applauded the original creator of the song for coming up with a hit track and help emaSwati l oosen up a bit and find humour in times of uncertaint­y caused by the unrest.

“It seemed hilarious at first but then it is a catchy song. The curr e n t COVID- 1 9 p a n d e mi c a n d the political unrest has caused so much trauma. It has greatly affected t he entertainm­ent scene, finding humour in this situation could decrease the chances of depression,” he said.

Another u s e r s a i d s h e d i d n o t k n o w t h e o wner o f t h e s o n g o r video, she downloaded i t on t he internet as it has been trending.

“It appeared on my For You Page on Tik Tok and I downloaded it.

“It has a bit of vibe, as soon as I uploaded it on my page my comments section went crazy.

“Some of my South Africa friends also downloaded it,” she said.
