- GRACE MACALUSO

FCA Canada employees presented a donation Friday exceeding $1.176 million to the Windsor Essex United Way.

The fundraising campaign exceeded last year’s total by $115,000, said Reid Bigland, FCA Canada CEO.

“Our FCA employees never waiver from their commitment to give back to the Windsor/Essex community through the United Way,” Bigland said during the presentation at the automaker’s headquarters in downtown Windsor. “We realize the community is counting on our leadership, and I’m glad we can continue to deliver such good news year after year.”

The donation stands as the biggest individual pledge to the United Way and maintains a 30year plus tradition of FCA Canada employees and retirees donating more than $1 million.

“Last year, the total raised by FCA Canada and Unifor assisted 10,674 people in Windsor and Essex County,” said Lorraine Goddard, CEO United Way. “We would like to thank FCA for taking bold action against poverty in our community by ensuring that each and every employee has the opportunity to support United Way.”

Dino Chiodo, president of Unifor Local 444, said his union “will always be there as a community partner knowing all the good that the United Way does across Windsor and Essex County.”

So far, the United Way campaign has reached $3,719,155.16.
