Cambridge’s Clayton Cook has garnered international attention, and an appearance on the “Ellen DeGeneres Show,” for interrupting his own wedding photo shoot to rescue a young boy who was struggling in Kitchener’s Victoria Park Lake.

Clayton and his wife Brittany were guests on the show Thursday, where they explained to the talk show host the interesting turn of events that took place on their big day, two weeks ago.

During the couple’s wedding photo shoot in Victoria Park, Clayton noticed three young children playing by the edge of the lake.

Moments later, he looked back over at them and noticed one was missing. He walked over and noticed a young boy struggling in the water. Clayton, dressed in his formal groom attire, got ankle deep in the water and scooped the boy out.

The wedding photographer posted the photos to social media and the news went viral.

“Now people are calling you a hero,” DeGeneres said on the Thursday show. “Do you feel like you’re a hero?”

Clayton quickly responded with a “no.”

“I just see it as, I was at the right place at the right time, and (it was) the right thing to do.”

Ellen then inquired about the couple’s Harry Potter-themed wedding. “We’re big ‘Harry Potter’ fans,” said Brittany, adding that even her bouquet was made from pages taken out of “Harry Potter” books.

Then, in true Ellen fashion, the couple was gifted with a trip to London for a studio tour where they will see sets, props and costumes from the famous films. The couple also got a trip to the Universal Studios Florida theme park, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
