Do you speak Romanian or Serbian and have an hour or two a week to swap stories with a senior? If so, we could use your help at Sunnyside Home Long Term Care. Visit times are flexible — we work around your schedule. Make a difference in the life of a senior in your community and share some time and conversati­on. K-W Seniors Day Program provides a day of supervised social and recreation­al activities for seniors with health challenges who want to remain in their homes with dignity for as long as possible. We invite volunteers to join our team of highly dedicated and compassion­ate staff to assist with running program activities such as board games, card games, trivia games and crafts. Do you love Halloween? The City of Waterloo has an exciting opportunit­y for event helper volunteers to assist with Scare In The Square on Friday, Oct. 21 and/or Saturday Oct. 22, at Waterloo Public Square. Volunteers assist with setup, takedown and program delivery. Event is outdoors with varying weather conditions, stairs, and there may be lifting of up to 30 pounds. Here are the shifts: Friday, Oct. 21, 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 22, 2 to 6 p.m., 4 to 8 p.m. or 6 to 10 p.m. (six volunteers needed). Contact volunteer@waterloo.ca or 519-888-6488.
