A 60-year-old man is facing a string of sexual assault charges related to crimes that allegedly took place in Walton between 1984 and 1998.

In a June 16 release, West Hants District RCMP said James Michael Snow of Salmon River is facing more than 40 sexual assault-related charges.

The investigation was launched on Jan. 18. RCMP said police received reports of a historical sexual assault involving a victim that would have been a young child at the time.

A months-long investigation helped police uncover four more victims who had allegedly been assaulted by the man.

The investigation is continuing, and investigators believe that there may be more victims.

If you are a victim, or have any information related to these incidents, please contact the West Hants District RCMP General Investigation Section at 902-798-2207.

Snow was kept in custody and is scheduled to appear in Windsor provincial court on July 13. He faces charges for sexual assault, sexual exploitation, unlawful confinement, and prostitution of a minor, among others.

“The RCMP understands that these types of offences can have a devastating and lifelong impact on victims and can cause intense feelings of stress, shame and fear,” “said Nova Scotia RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Lisa Croteau in a media release.

“There is no time limit on these types of offences, and even if a significant number of years have passed, RCMP investigators will seek justice for any victims who come forward. We are here to help, and we encourage anyone affected to report the incident to police immediately.”
