Charges of participating in criminal organization in Windsor withdrawn

-

Charges of conspiring to commit the indictable offence of trafficking cocaine and participating in the activities of a criminal organization against a group of five people have been withdrawn.

Jessica Leigh Purcell, 21, Jordan Thomas Kehoe, 25, Tevaughn Jordan Brent Scott, 21, Kerry Lee Sampson, 30, all of Windsor, and Anthony Alfredo Corradini, 18, of Middle Musquodoboit, were each charged individually with trafficking cocaine and were charged jointly with conspiracy to traffick and participating in the activities of a criminal organization to enhance the organization’s ability to traffick cocaine.

It was alleged that they committed the offences in Windsor between Feb. 20 and April 20.

The charges of conspiracy to traffick and participating in the activities of a criminal organization were withdrawn Oct. 3. The individual trafficking charges against Purcell, Scott and Sampson were also withdrawn. Corradini and Kehoe are still charged individually with trafficking cocaine.

Corradini and Kehoe’s matters have been adjourned until Oct. 18 for a focus hearing. Preliminary inquiry dates of Feb. 27 and 28 and March 3, 2017, still stand. Both had previously elected trial by Supreme Court judge alone. In the meantime, Kehoe’s recognizance has been varied from house arrest to a daily curfew from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Sampson wasn’t present for the Oct. 3 court appearance, as he was in custody on other matters. Judge Alan Tufts sentenced him the same day to 50 days in custody on five charges, including uttering a death threat, resisting a police officer engaged in the execution of his duty and three counts of failing to comply with his recognizance. Sampson was also fined $500 in victim surcharges.

Sampson committed these offences in Mount Uniacke July 17 and Aug. 15 and in Windsor Aug. 17.

A charge of escaping lawful custody at Highway 101 in Windsor by fleeing on foot from police and two more counts of failing to comply with his recognizance were withdrawn.
