Saying thanks with Canada 150 pins
Recipients cited for their efforts in ‘making our communities great’
It has been a big year for Canada, as the country marked a century- and- a- half since Confederation, and, as 2017 was drawing to a close, West Nova MP Colin Fraser paid tribute to some people in his riding by presenting them with pins commemorating the nation’s 150th birthday and recognizing them for the work they do in their communities.
Five of the pins were presented in Yarmouth and Digby counties. (Other presentations were made in the Annapolis/Kings portion of the West Nova riding.)
The latest Yarmouth presentation was made late Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 19, when Derrick Babin of the Victorian Order of Nurses was presented with a pin at the VON TriCounty office.
Earlier that afternoon, Cyrille LeBlanc, representing Royal Canadian Legion Branch 155 in Wedgeport, received a pin recognizing him for his service to the legion there.
Two days earlier, Russell Comeau, representing the Clare Veterans Association, was presented with a Canada 150 pin.
Brenda Hattie of the legion in Yarmouth received her pin Dec. 9. She was recognized for her service to the legion as branch 61 was marking its 75th anniversary.
Art Winchester, representing the legion’s Digby branch, was presented with a pin on Remembrance Day.
Fraser said he welcomed the chance to make these presen- West Nova MP Colin Fraser presents a Canada 150 pin to Russell Comeau of the Clare Veterans Association.
