A weekend full of Pride

It’s time for the streets of Toronto to be filled with colour, festivity and defiance: Pride weekend is here!

Here are highlights of what’s happening on Saturday: Pride Run/Walk: Try running 5 km or walking 3 km while raising money for Toronto’s LGTBQ2S+ charities. (10 a.m., Church and Wellesley) Dyke March: A pre-march rally welcomes all self-identified dykes for performanc­es, crafting and community building, followed by the parade at 2 p.m. and a post-march rally in Allan Gardens. (1 p.m., Church and Hayden Sts.) Drag Ball: Drag queens and kings take to the stage with a special guest performanc­e and a drag contest. (6 p.m., YongeDunda­s Stage) 35 Years of AIDS Activism: Activists talk through the historic struggle for rights for people living with AIDS/HIV. (6:30 p.m., Innis Town Hall, University of Toronto) Not too tired from Saturday? Here’s some of the Sunday lineup: Ninjichaag: A celebratio­n of Toronto’s two-spirit community, starting with an opening ceremony at noon led by twospirit elder Ma-Nee Chacaby. (5 p.m., Alexander Street Parkette)

Pride Parade: The culminatio­n of Pride month with more than 120 groups marching (2 p.m., Bloor and Church Sts.) Until We’re Safe March: The parade will conclude with a march by organizers and volunteers wearing black to honour those in the LGBTQ2S+ community whose lives have been lost. (7 p.m.)
