Toronto Man Named Top Fugitive in Canada's Most Wanted List After Deadly Shooting

-

Toronto police have declared Michael Bebee, a 35-year-old city resident, as the most wanted person in Canada following his alleged involvement in a fatal shooting last summer. Bebee is currently sought under a Canada-wide warrant for second-degree murder in the death of 29-year-old Shamar PowellFlowers, which occurred near Danforth and Carlaw avenues.

In a significant move to apprehend him, authorities have announced a $100,000 reward for any information leading to Bebeeís arrest. This announcement was part of the broader update to the ìbe on the lookoutî (BOLO) programís Top 25 fugitives list across Canada, which was unveiled earlier today by Toronto Police Chief Myron Demkiw.

At the time of Powell-Flowersí murder, Bebee was reportedly under a gun prohibition due to his involvement in another shooting incident four years ago. The victimís family, deeply affected by the tragedy, issued a heartfelt statement expressing their ongoing grief and the profound impact Powell-Flowersí death has had on their lives. They described him as a brave and ambitious construction engineer, whose life was tragically cut short.

The BOLO program is currently offering a total of $1 million in rewards for information leading to the arrests of individuals on their most wanted list, aiming to curb violent crime and provide justice for victims and their families. Among others listed is Cristian Cuxum, wanted for a murder in October 2022, and Deshawn Davis, accused of abducting Elnaz Hajtamiri in January 2022.

Toronto police continue to seek the publicís assistance in capturing these fugitives and have emphasized the critical role community members can play in enhancing safety and security.
