Author Bernice Morgan will visit the Torbay Public Library for a reading from her novel, “Cloud of Bone”. Morgan is best known for her beloved novel “Random Passage” and its sequel “Waiting for Time”. All are welcome to join. Free, registration not necessary.

Entertainment 8 p.m. Tunes and Tales
A longstanding feature of the Shakespeare by the Sea Festival, Kelly Russell shares with his audiences the living traditions of Newfoundland fiddle music and the stories of an imaginary outport community. This show runs Mondays at 8 p.m. until July August 20th at the Crow’s Nest Officers’ Club. Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for students and seniors. Limited seating available. Advanced purchase encouraged.

Reel Downtown Outdoor Movie
Screening “The Wedding Singer” and local short film “Touch.” A free and family friendly event. Movies start at dusk (around 9 p.m.) on Water Street East at the foot of Solomon’s Lane by the TD Building. Bring your own lawn chair.
Ongoing Applications for Incubator Project
The St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival is accepting proposals from female-identifying applicants in Atlantic Canada for our annual Incubator Project. This year’s new focus is women who want to develop and produce their first scripted web series. Five projects will be selected to participate in this development program. The five chosen winners are given full delegate pass to the festival’s screenings and film industry forum. They are also matched with leading industry experts from across Canada for one-on-one consultations and meetings to further develop their projects, including Andra Sheffer from the Independent Production Fund. At the end of the week, winners are given the opportunity to pitch their projects to producers and organizations at the Face 2 Face Pitch Session. Other perks and prizes include a $1,000 gear rental certificate from Sim International for each winner to help make their series a reality. History 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Other Women Walk
A historical walking tour featuring multiple performances at standing stops in and around Bannerman Park. Professional actors perform as various women from 1922 St. John’s. The tour departs twice daily: at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on weekdays between July 23 and August 10, rain or shine, from the corner of Rennies Mill Road and Circular Road. O’brien’s Music is partnering with Rocket Bakery to offer a unique hands-on experience with the quintessential Newfoundland folk instrument: the button accordion. Visit Rocket Bakery to find out all about how the instrument works and we’ll even help you try your hand at playing a tune. While you listen to traditional Newfoundland tunes played on a variety of different instruments, you’ll learn about how the button accordion came to be so popular in Newfoundland and you’ll enjoy Rocket Bakery’s take on a traditional fish cake dinner featuring two of Rocket’s special kitchen party fish cakes, salad, dessert and tea or coffee.
