Sexual immorality on the rise

-

I notice that lately we have an increase in sex crimes in the St.

John’s area. The crimes involve sexual assault, internet luring and child pornography. We also know that a lot of serious sex concerns seldom get reported on the news, and I’m referring here to immoral sexual activity and abortion.

Now in the case of abortion we are not only dealing with the sixth Commandment of God: “You shall not commit adultery,” but also the fifth Commandment as well: “You shall not kill.”

There are some people who put no value on human life and go ahead with an abortion, others engage in immoral sexual activity as if it were an everyday event.

Not long ago I was standing on the sidewalk in the vicinity where I was told abortions take place with a sign saying: “Jesus Christ Is The Way,” and was given the finger and some nasty remarks by some persons in vehicles as they passed by.

On another occasion I was standing on the sidewalk with the same sign near a strip club: a young lady approached me and said: “I work there, I take off my clothes but I don’t engage in sexual intercourse.

I said: “It’s an abuse of sex.” She replied: “The human body is beautiful and I’m doing this to put myself through university.” I told her that all use of sex outside of marriage is mortally sinful and if a person dies in mortal sin, unrepentant, then that person willsuffer in hell forever. I suggested that she give up this activity and get into an acceptable line of work. She then walked away without saying anything else.

According to the biblical prophet Matthew (5:27) “Anyone who looks at a woman and wants to possess her is guilty of adultery with her in his heart.”

Lust is one of the seven deadly sins we need to keep tabs on, and to press the stop button every time a sex thought or desire comes into our minds.

One chooses this destructive path in life but will need outside help when one decides to give up these activities, and that’s where Jesus comes into the picture because He is the lifeline out of this hellish lifestyle.

“Sex is a very powerful component in our bodies and we need to control that component in a responsible manner to be used only in marriage, just as athletes control their bodies to win races.”

Immoral sexual activity and abortion which is also mortally sinful can also cause serious medical problems to those persons who engage in such activities to such an extent that they may regret having gotten involved in the first place. David Jones, Mount Pearl
