Half Pints win whole thing in second segment

The Scorecard Harry’s Half Pints came out of the gate fast in the second segment of the Niagara 5-Pin Mixed Pro League season and led the league almost wire to wire, as they finished the second segment title with a comfortabl­e 2-1 win over the Oh Canada Eh Dinner Show Town Criers.

Brian McFarlane led the winners with an excellent 781 (308, 213, 260) while getting backed up by Shawn Pellizari’s 685 (236, 244). The Town Criers replied with Kile Robins’ 730 (222, 321) and Josh Robins who checked in with 685 (279, 234).

Finishing strong and wrapping up second place were the Wine Place Whiners who knocked off the Dale Mellway Life Insurance Magic 2-1. Rob Macdonald had the hottest hand of the night, tossing the evening’s best individual performanc­e, a blistering 868 (321, 291, 256) and was pushed along by Sarah Stevens who threw 742 (343, 203) including the second highest ladies single of the season. John Wendel rounded things out with 718 (230, 290). The Magic fought back with Matt Vendittell­i’s 747 (268, 293) and Mike Owen’s 690 (226, 275).

The Lakeside Electrical Lightning, led by Melina Driver’s 713 (221, 308) and Tim Dixon’s 707 (267, 249), brought the only brooms of the night, sweeping the Reggie’s Renovation­s Inc. Hammerhead­s 3-0. The Hammerhead­s mustered a Chris Disher 694 (221, 297) reply.

In the evening’s final match, the Oh Canada Eh Dinner Show Canucks took two of there from the Ontario Street Boston Pizza Brutes. Brad Maurice sparked the Canucks with a solid

740 (257, 264) and had help from Adam Eckhardt’s 705 ( 233, 268) and Brad Gaudreau who added 675 (268, 229). Chantal Papineau led the Brutes’ reply, tossing

720 (251, 276) while Jeff Stevens contribute­d 708 (245, 277).
