Rocky Mountain Soap Co. Omega 3 Hand Cream

- ALEESHA HARRIS

What it is: A hand cream that contains only 10 ingredients: water, cold-pressed organic flaxseed oil, organic shea butter, glycerol stearate, glycerine, beeswax, sclerotium, phenethyl alcohol, vanilla scent and coconut extract.

From the Alberta-based brand Rocky Mountain Soap Co., this hand cream promises to “transport” users to the tropics through exotic scents while also keeping their hands in “tiptop” condition.

“It’ll really feel like a vacation for your hands,” the brand’s website details. The Omega 3 Hand Cream is available in four scents: Lavender, vanilla mint, vanilla coconut and lemon grass. What we say: This hand cream leaves skin feeling super-hydrated and protected. While it does have a residue that’s left behind after a dollop of the potion is rubbed in, it’s more like a protective coating that keeps hands feeling smooth and soft all day long rather than a slick nuisance.

We tried the vanilla coconut version, which had a strong smell that, while not unpleasant, was a tad overpowering. (Next time, we’ll opt for something less sweet like the lemon grass.)

Despite the odour, the overall thoughts among our testers were positive. The cream helped soothe a wide variety of concerns, including dry spots, roughness, hard cuticles and more. And our testers agreed, they look forward to using it throughout the summer — and on into the drying days of fall and winter. Where to get it: rockymountainsoap.com. What it will cost you: $11.50.
