Former Big Brother disgusted by fraud case
Re: House arrest in Peterborough fraud case, Nov. 8
My name is Don Broersma and I make my statement on this case as a private citizen and my comments are mine alone. Through my comments, I am in no way representing the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Peterborough Organization or my place of employment.
I am disgusted and appalled that Darlene Edwardes-Evans, who pleaded guilty to fraud in regards to her selfish actions at the Big Brothers and Big Sisters Organization of Peterborough, is seeking $900,000 from the organization for what she calls wrongful dismissal, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and aggravated moral, and bad-faith damages.
Has she no morals? She pleaded guilty to defrauding the Big Brothers and Big Sisters Organization of Peterborough!
Her actions and the continued attention it is receiving is doing no good whatsoever for the Big Brothers and Big Sisters Organization. I wouldn’t doubt if her actions are causing less people to donate their time or their money to other various charitable organizations as well here in our great and giving community.
I would like her to drop her claim against the Big Brothers and Big Sisters Organization of Peterborough, get the help she needs and quietly become a good contributing member of society so that all the charitable organizations in our community can continue to perform the great and needed work that they do!
The good work of Big Brothers Big Sisters has been overshadowed by the criminal actions of its trusted executive director and the recovery from her actions will be slower the longer she continues to selfishly drag on this ugly chapter in its story.
If the good citizens of Peterborough are slower to open their wallets for charity at this time, I understand that but I ask that everyone look past the one bad apple in the bunch. She has been removed and the need to help the children still exists. Please take the time to explore the opportunity to enrich your life and to help others by donating your time to organizations like the Big Brothers and Big Sisters Organization of Peterborough.
